Tales in Space
Tales in Space are an explosive collage of electro-dynamo-pomo-disco rock. With a small collection of 3 members they prove to create a huge post-rock-electronica sound.
These Sydney lads first gathered over beers in late 2008 and while sporting their lab coats in the studio in 2009 they created their debut EP – Self titled. With a background in music production, Tales in Space self-recorded and produced the EP which has proven to be a great start to their career. It was picked up by several radio stations while their film clip for ‘The Cause’ has been a featured clip on Rage.
In February and March 2010, they had the pleasure of sharing their music to the world by travelling to LA and NYC to play some shows to promote their debut EP. Soon after returning home, Tales smashed out some serious studio time to record their second EP ‘Ghost in the room’ which hit record stores in November 2010.
2011 looks set to be a big year for Tales in Space, with two national tours booked and a full-length album underway.
With the heavy influence of technology in today’s music, Tales create using a montage of samples, loops, radios, keyboards and triggers while still maintaining a solid foundation of traditional drums and guitars.
Tales in Space have been radiating their sound at festivals and venues such as Bondi Music Festival, Lovejam Festival, My filthy Riot, The Gaelic Theatre, Annandale hotel, Beach rd hotel and Oxford Art Factory, Trip (LA), Pianos (NYC), Arlenes Grocery (NYC). With an energetic and powerful delivery, their live show offers melodic guitars, slamming beats and strong harmonies with an electronic and sample based twist.

Sixteen-armed nocturnal grrr-oove beast ‘Alotta Presha’ is Wollongong’s very own reggae/dub juggernaut.
With the formulaic combo of soaring poetic based lyricism floating atop deep bass and ground-shaking rhythms, Alotta Presha is renowned for its sweaty dance pits and big time party starting.
Forming in late 2009 the band has taken on many shapes, sizes, faces and sounds in the search for something which has become entirely their own. Since this formation, they’ve have shared the stage with acts such as Katchafire, King Cannons, Zennith, The Strides, Kingtide and Mount Mocha Kilimanjaro.
With their debut E.P now available independently and a big summer of touring on the cards, Alotta Presha are a force not to be ignored.

Australian rockers, NEW MANIC SPREE smashed their way onto the music scene in 2005 and have been leaving a trail of hysteria and bleeding hearts in their wake ever since. Recently unleashing their hotly anticipated “Hollywoods and Galaxies” EP in Brisbane, Australia to screaming crowds of over 300. They are a band not to miss.
Drawing on an array of influences, from bands such as Klaxons and Soulwax, to composers like Debussy and Phillip Glass, NEW MANIC SPREE create a unique brand of music that is progressive, infectious and electric.
The title tracks “Hollywoods and Galaxies” and “Deranged” have been receiving solid airplay on both national and community radio stations and drawing faithful fans to the bands live show. This resulted in a recent headlining tour that was received with open arms and open ears throughout the east coast of Australia.

With there being less and less venues to play in Sydney nowdays, FUNBOX was formed to reinvigorate the Sydney scene by offering punters a place to come enjoy a great CHEAP MEAL, score some CHEAP DRINKS and sample some of Sydney’s best UP AND COMING bands. And to really hammer it home – WE’RE MAKING IT FREE ENTRY FOR ALL.
Using the historic Lansdowne Hole as our backdrop we’ll be showcasing music all day and running late into the night. We’ll be running TWO STAGES so there’ll always be something to watch and the talent will amaze you.

Vultures feat Grass Taylor
“When announcing your taking your fathers ‘Stage’ name for your new music project, the dinner conversation around the family x-mas gathering suddenly gets a whole lot more interesting”.
Grass Taylor first learnt of his fathers 60’s alias a few years back. An Astor Records recording and touring artist in the 60’s and 70’s, and a hired gun on the skins, Grass Senior set up his oyster shell Ludwig drum kit behind some of Australia’s greatest performers such as John Farnham, Billy Thorpe, and even knocked back Rick Springfield from fronting their group back in the day.
“I think it hit home when dad casually said one day ‘playing Festival Hall was interesting’, ‘this prompted me to ask a few follow up questions in which I discovered an array of hooligan stories from his day’s as a Mod rocker in the late 1960’s”.

Cheap Ass Sundays presents JD Mo
D.MO – a band formed in 2010 at a local jam night between four hungry musicians, got straight to work in writing what now seems to be an endless amount of original material. The four personalities together created a Soulful, Aggressive, Melodic, Humorous spin on Blues/Hard/Rock & Roll. 2010 they entered Global Battle of the Bands and took out 1st place against 14 bands in the N.S.W regional Finals, then continued on to The Australasian Final and placed 4th against 14 bands from all over Australia and New Zealand. Now in 2011 they continue to spread the message of JD.MO gig after gig and currently recording their first E.P. They are a live act that will capture your ears and attention and leave you satisfied but wanting more!

The vast and solitude realms of space and silence are not just blinks within the bands dynamic sonic wall of sound. This music is a tribute to the many experiences of love, loss, joy and sadness in one’s own life.
The collective are also left at times to their own spontaneous inner impulses and imagination to play out directly from the heart but never leaving the fold.
There is method to the B-MASSIVE madness.

SwitchBlades
The Switchblades create a sound that is aggressive, dangerous, and altogether unique by fusing multiple potent musical styles, from psychobilly to punk to heavy metal and blues. Lyrically influenced by Lemmy from Motorhead, combined with a Poe like inner psychosis; their nefarious lyrics have already led to promoter requests to tone down their performances. But as Harry Crewes said ‘what the artist owes the world is his work; not a model for living.’
The band is an eclectic mix of talented musicians. Jarran Zen, the enigmatic singer, also plays double bass. The lead guitarist, Nic, is a modern day moody blues man with a heavy metal edge. Their drummer, Tanya, provides a punk cadence to the finished songs that is completely in sync with the band’s musical style.

Hotcakes
Who are HOTCAKES? Well who the f*ck are you and who the f*ck are you to ask!?! Sydney’s HOTCAKES are not a band, they are a lifestyle choice; one that is equal parts rock, roll and a side of cherry flavoured personal lubricant.
With an album jam packed full of ‘all killer no filler’ tracks ready to drop on an unsuspecting world, HOTCAKES are a rock ‘n’ roll beast of a juggernaut waiting to happen. From the innuendo laden ‘Fire and Ice’, written by frontman JJ Rio about making love on a glacier and ‘Easy Come, Easy Go’, a flame-thrower rocker about an old ‘friend’ of JJ’s with a body like a sack of wildcats and an IQ to match, to the sensitive and longing ‘If Only These Arms Could Hold You’, HOTCAKES’ soon to be released debut album ‘Excess All Areas’, has something for everyone, particularly 40-something bleach blonde strippers.

Smitty & B. Goode
Smitty & B. Goode are a loud, good times, rock ‘n’ roll two piece from Sydney. Smitty plays the guitar and sings, B. Goode plays the drums and also sings. The band formed at the arse-end of 2008 when B. Goode met Smitty while they were both working at an indie record label. After finding out they possessed a rock ‘n’ roll chemistry , the pair knuckled down with producer Lachlan Mitchell (The Jezebels, The Getaway Plan, Frenzal Rhomb) and recorded their self-titled debut album before they had even played a gig! With their sound arriving fully formed, Smitty & B. Goode took their rock ‘n’ roll party on the road and even ended up playing a show in New York City. By the time 2010 rolled around they were ready to go back into the studio with Mitchell and record their follow up album, Hello Rock ‘n’ Roll.

Special Patrol Group play fast and fun rock’n'roll. SPG formed in Lismore in 1997 and are now based in Sydney’s innerwest. The band’s still the best garage band around. The sound is simple rock’n'roll played by music fans, with catchy songs about lager, girls, the devil and more, thumped out with passion. The rare live shows are like a party with the Ramones, The recordings capture the rawness of The Saints and the blendeding of influences is closer to The Clash. This is not saying Special Patol Group sound like anyone, as they are new and unique just like good rock’n'roll should
